Just a Matter of Time (1976) (26 minutes) Produced by Jalbert Productions, this documentary film about World Cup ski racing focuses on the Hahnenkamm downhill in Kitzbühel, Austria, the 1976 Innsbruck Winter Olympics, and America’s Downhill in Aspen.The evolution of ski lifts, travel, ski fashion and ski equipment are covered, as well as Wintersköl activities, hot air ballooning, cross country skiing, and more. There is footage of the 1950 FIS World Championships and the 1987 Winternational America’s Downhill. It features Fritz Benedict and Bill Dunaway discussing what makes Aspen attractive as a place to live, a brief history of Aspen, images and film footage from the Aspen Historical Society archives, and footage of 1987 Aspen, including the new Silver Queen Gondola, restaurants, and shops. Return to Aspen (1987) (22 minutes) This promotional film for Aspen Skiing Company was produced and directed by Dick Durrance.Winter of ’74(1974) (26 minutes) Produced by Jalbert Productions and sponsored by Olympia Brewing Co and TWA from Modern Talking Pictures, this 29-minute film features skiers Mike King, Chris Curtis, and Scott Magrino hotdogging at Aspen, Vail, Jackson Hole, Snowbird, Breckenridge, Crested Butte, Steamboat, Winter Park, Sun Valley, and Taos.The film features Sabich and other racers including Tyler Palmer, Hank Kashiwa, and Jean Claude Killy, as well as brief shots of Kiki Cutter and Claudine Longet. One for the Money (1973) (13 minutes) Sponsored by Demetre Ski Sweaters and produced by Fat City Films, this documentary about professional ski racing is narrated by Spider Sabich.The film is directed by Greg Poschman and is narrated by John Dietsch and Christie Davis. Featured footage includes Andy Mill skiing powder, KiKi Cutter and Christin Cooper in a benefit race, the Annual Peace Officer’s Race, the Crystal Palace, the Highlands Patrol Jump at Cloud Nine, and more. Video Postcard Aspen Snowmass (1987) (24 minutes) This souvenir video includes footage of skiing and snowboarding, special events, the town, historical elements, and various scenic shots.Scenes include Wintersköl, the Roch Cup, NASTAR, and nightlife. The young couple stays at the Gant, ski on Aspen Mountain, and explore town. It stars Kurt Brendlinger, Gilian Handleman, Skip Behrhorst, and Andy Mill, among others.
